Timothy P. Snyder, MPA, CFRE, Consulting Associate

photo of Timothy P. Snyder Tim has held leadership positions in human development spanning a 39 year career. He has served in university student development, resource development and extensively in organizational development and change management. He joined Brakeley Briscoe in 2008 as senior vice president, directing the Mid- Atlantic region.

Recent Brakeley Briscoe clients that Tim has served include the Appalachian Bear Rescue, National Center for Family Philanthropy, Hostelling International - USA, Chesapeake College, Community Preservation and Development Corporation, and Lakeland Regional Medical Center, All Saints Episcopal Church.

Tim has focused recently in the community college arena, counseling such colleges as Southwestern Community College (NC), Oakton Community College (IL), State Center Community College District (CA), Corning Community College (NY), and he served as sponsor faculty at the Council of Resource Development President’s Fundraising Academy and the Executive Leadership Training Program.

As a successful campaign consultant, Tim managed a number of campaigns on local, state and national levels. Tim excels in designing and implementing transition, continuation and reengineering campaigns. He is schooled on transformational philanthropy.

His professional fundraising experiences began in 1984 as a capital campaign consultant with Ketchum Inc. He has served in the United Way and in senior leadership positions with Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, the Parental Stress Center and Voices for America’s Children.

For 13 years (1993-2006) Tim served as executive director of the Parental Stress Center, a family services organization serving Southwestern Pennsylvania. His special capabilities include resource development, organizational change and intentional partnership building.

Tim has demonstrated capacity in organizational assessment, strategic planning and action planning. His special skill is in working with organizations and their leaders at all levels to identify opportunities and the methods by which to achieve strategic objectives.

A student of the Learning Organization model, Tim has taught and coached widely on both fundraising best practices and on programmatic development in nonprofit organizations.

Tim received a B.A. from Southern Methodist University and pursued graduate study in public affairs, business administration, and international development education at the University of Pittsburgh. He received an MPA from the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. A 26-year member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Tim was first awarded the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation in 1989. Tim grew up on the Mississippi River in Iowa; he now resides in Washington, D.C. He is married to Arlene Apfel Snyder, CFRE. They have three boys in their 30s.
