Olivia Yates, MPA, Ed.D., CFRE, Consulting Associate

image Olivia Yates, CFRE brings an extensive background in organizational planning and change, and has the full spectrum of fund development experience including marketing, community relations, strategic planning and major campaign leadership. She is a seasoned expert in volunteer recruitment and management and in corporate and board training development and delivery.

With a doctorate in organizational leadership, she has directed executive teams to build infrastructure and bring public organizations to new levels of visibility, respect, engagement, financial support, and repositioning in the market. An element of this success stems from the deep fund development understanding and focus she creates throughout the organization, which inspire strong internal participation and generate greatly increased public awareness and donor activity.

Olivia’s leadership has included senior positions in institutions of higher learning, youth organizations and human services not-for-profits. From 2005-2012 she served as Vice President for Development of Kinship Center, a California children’s services organization, strengthening the brand, guiding the board through a seminal strategic planning process, expanding fundraising statewide, increasing the endowment and tripling giving, and playing a leading role in stabilizing the organization during a corporate merger. She worked closely with the agency’s children’s mental health professionals to solicit and win hundreds of thousands of dollars of competitive grant funding, as well as to develop a model curriculum for the field in children’s mental health trauma for Kinship Center’s new profit-based Education Institute.

Other: As Director of Advancement with The Salvation Army for six years, Olivia held the position of department head and member of President’s Council, supporting the West Coast operations and personnel of this highly effective international human services agency. Her role as Senior Development Officer at El Camino Community College allowed her to provide fiscal and program management for $1.7M in federal grants, and to build college-wide support and community partnerships. Earlier positions have included responsibility for fund development, public relations, corporate communications, staff, board and client training, and volunteer management throughout diverse regions.

Since 2012, Olivia has been Vice President of Business Development for a family management consulting business, responsible for planning, online marketing, communications and training development. She holds an Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University, an MPA from the University of Pittsburgh (Recipient of first Dean’s Award for Distinguished Service and Academic Excellence), and a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University. Olivia lives in Pebble Beach, California.
