Julie Ver Steeg has over 30 years experience in nonprofit fundraising and management. She is a specialist in nonprofit management and fundraising with particular expertise in development assessment and planning, major gift strategies, capital campaigns, annual fund development, executive coaching and board & volunteer training.

Julie’s clients include American Red Cross, The Marine Mammal Center, St. Anthony Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area, San Jose State University, Friends of the San Francisco Public Library, Children’s Discovery Museum San Jose, Holy Names University, California Institute of Arts, California State Parks Foundation, Cleveland Zoological Society, American River Conservancy, KQED – Public Media for Northern California, Shelter Network, Latino Public Radio Consortium, Portland Community College, Shoreline Community College, Lincoln Child Center, East Bay Agency for Children, Northern California Presbyterian Homes Foundation, Hospice of the East Bay, Congregation Sherith Israel, Natividad Medical Foundation and Peninsula Symphony.

As a nonprofit staff leader, she served as Development Officer for California Tomorrow as well as Director of Development for San Francisco Botanical Garden Society (then Strybing Arboretum Society), Greenbelt Alliance and the Astronomical Society of the Pacific. She also served as Acting Executive Director at Strybing and as Associate Executive Officer at Astronomical Society of the Pacific. For five years she directed the Bay Area Environmental Education Resource Fair (BAEER Fair).

Julie is a long-time board member and current vice president of Development Executives Roundtable. She has served as a board member and finance committee member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals-Golden Gate Chapter, several times co-chaired the Ask the Experts program of Fundraising Day in San Francisco, served on The Marin School’s Gala Committee and on the board of the Bay Area Environmental Education Resource Fair. She is currently working with the board of PFLAG San Francisco.

She has presented on a variety of topics in fundraising for the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Development Executives Roundtable, the Foundation Center and Association of Partners for Public Lands. She has served many times as faculty for the AFP CFRE Review Course and provided training for many nonprofits. Julie served as lecturer in Biology at San Francisco State University and has a master’s degree in Ecology and Systematics from the University. She also holds the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential.
