Feasibility Studies

Our firm's campaign planning (feasibility) studies typically consist of two main research components:

•  Personal interviews with donors, prospective donors, and other influential individuals

•  A development program assessment that evaluates readiness to carry out a captial campaign

The Briscoe Group begins with a planning study model comprised of up to 45 personal, confidential interviews with individuals in a position to help you reach the campaign goal through significant giving and/or campaign or community leadership that will influence others to make significant gifts. In conversation with the Campaign Planning Committee we may decide to adjust the number of interviews or we may decide to add surveys or focus groups.

Our assessment (audit) of your development program will evaluate trend data, development/marketing staffing, gift and donor record systems and the role volunteers play in fund raising. Assessments may include benchmarking with like organizations. Comparison data helps to put recommendations and findings in a bigger perspective.

Our firm's campaign planning studies test for six general campaign success indicators, plus issues of special concern to the client.

•  The validity of the needs

•  The strength of the case for support

•  The image of the organization

•  The availability of volunteer leadership

•  The giving potential

•  The internal organizational resources for the campaign

•  Plus special issues of concern to you and your leadership

This research, coupled with The Briscoe Group's extensive experience in planning and managing successful campaigns, will serve as the foundation for our

•  Findings report

•  Strategy recommendations

•  Detailed campaign plan (or next-steps plan if a campaign is not recommended)

The study report will consist of an account of findings, recommendations for campaign strategy and operation plus a detailed campaign work plan, timeline and budget-if you are ready to campaign. If not, the work plan will instead focus on campaign readiness work. The study will also determine what endowment level is the right goal for you at this time and how the donor prospect constituency views the urgency and significance of the objectives you want to fund with this sum. We will also provide a separate, confidential report of findings on volunteer leader candidates and on lead and major gift prospects identified in the interviews.
