Robert W. GriesemerBob has worked in academia/non-profits for over 25 years mainly in CFO positions, responsible for the three associated areas of finance (including operating budgets and endowment management), facilities (including maintenance and capital projects) and human resources. His first position was as Executive Officer (CFO) of the Laboratory of Nuclear Studies at Cornell University where he managed all non-academic functions of the facility. The Laboratory operated a high-energy physics, particle accelerator, supported, at that time, by the NSF's largest contract ($20,000,000). From Cornell he moved to Dartmouth College where he served as Executive Officer for the Arts and Sciences. In that capacity he managed all the budgets, faculty personnel activities and facilities coordination for that cost center. During his last year at Dartmouth he was part of a five-person task force that developed a comprehensive, ten-year facilities plan for the College including debt financing and other funding sources. From Dartmouth Bob spent a collective 10 years in private secondary education as CFO of The Hotchkiss School and the Ross School & Institute. At both Schools he played a major role in over a dozen major capital projects (over $130 million) that completely changed the appearance of both campuses. Long range planning and multi-year budgets were initiated at both, schools, during his tenure. He returned to the College environment in June 2001 when he became the Vice President and Treasurer at Lycoming College. At all these institutions Bob worked closely with the Board of Trustees and is/was a member and agenda officer for key Board sub-committees (Investments, Business Affairs, Buildings &Grounds and Personnel). A native Pennsylvanian, Bob received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Lafayette College. Prior to his career move to academia Bob worked for Scott Paper Company in several engineering and managerial roles. His eleven years at Scott included a three-and-a-half year leave to serve on active duty in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he was a Platoon Leader and Company Commander in Vietnam. During his Army career he achieved the rank of Captain and was awarded the Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medals. Bob has served on the Board of Trustees at the Town Hill School and is currently serving as a Board member of the Valley View Nursing Center. He maintains several professional memberships and has participated as a presenter at several professional meetings. He has served as an Accreditation Team member for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). In his free time Bob enjoys golf and kayaking. He and his wife Judy have two adult children and live in Montoursville, PA.
