Pirie M. GallPirie M. Gall has worked as manager, consultant, trainer, and most recently, development writer. Pirie has used his years of experience in government grant making, private consulting, and a lifelong involvement with the arts to build a career in arts management. He administered a musical theater group, coached the leaders of a Caribbean cultural troupe, guided the restructuring of the Congressional Chorus and its strategy, and joined its board. His work in grant-seeking included filling a key role in the spring cycle of applications and reports to foundations for the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington D.C., starting the grant-seeking data base and strategy for a new multi-arts center in Montgomery County Maryland, and helping the National Cathedral's Choral Society out of a grant-writing bind. During his years with the Peace Corps, the Agency for International Development, and in private consulting firms, Pirie designed and evaluated economic and social development projects (domestic and international), trained management and technical staff, and administered grants to nonprofit organizations. He has worked as both an internal and outside organization development facilitator. He developed an interactive way of evaluating programs and projects that has become a new model for program improvement, He has worked in Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, several states in all regions of the U.S., and traveled widely in Africa and Europe. Pirie holds a Certificate in Arts Management from the graduate program at American University. He studied at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and has a BA from Stanford University. He continues to do extensive volunteer work.
