Marjorie Winkler, ACFREMarjorie began her nonprofit management career in 1979 when she served as the
Development Coordinator
and first Executive For 13 years she was Field Services Officer for Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation, the Congressionally chartered nonprofit devoted to improving and sustaining the nation's housing stock. She provided nonprofit management and fundraising services to boards and executive directors in programs throughout the West, trained fundraisers at national institutes and supported the development of new community development organizations in California and Montana. Under a program sponsored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) she provided special training and consulting services for communities recovering from flood and hurricane disaster. She served as Director of Development at Girls Incorporated of Alameda County for seven years, achieving huge growth in annual fund revenues and securing a transforming 8 figure gift. Marjorie is a frequent trainer and speaker on nonprofit management and fundraising. She chaired the AFP's National Fundraising Research Council and served on the boards of both the national Association and the Golden Gate Chapter. She is the author of several articles and an essay in Critical Issues in Fundraising (1996) on "non-formula fundraising" for community organizations without traditional boards. She also contributed an article to Fundraising Management Magazine on A Disaster Recovery Plan. Marjorie is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music with a specialty in voice and opera.
