Joseph E. April

Joseph E. April has worked with nonprofits, community colleges, healthcare, and geriatric communities for more than 15 years heading marketing, community outreach, and development departments. As Director of Institutional Advancement & Executive Director at Massachusetts Bay Community College (MBCC), Joseph developed the college's first alumni association in more than 10 years. He also initiated the first capital campaign in the school's history—the Access in Education Campaign—poised to raise $4 million for a new Automotive Technology and Workforce Development Center.

He worked with a number of prominent healthcare and education companies before his position at MBCC. As a development officer at Holyoke Community College, he coordinated all aspects of the $5.1 million capital campaign, the largest in Massachusetts community college history. In conjunction with the alumni relations director, he implemented the organization's annual fund campaign. As director of development and community relations at The Loomis Communities, Joseph coordinated the Centennial Gala Anniversary, which raised more than $60,000. His initiation of a major gift and planned giving program raised $1.5 million in 2003.

Before that, Joseph was the Director of Development, Marketing and Community Relations at Marian Manor Nursing Home—the largest nursing home in the Commonwealth—where he developed the fundraising, marketing and community outreach programs. He was also a regional director for the American Heart Association.

Joseph is involved in community service as a chair-elect for the Council for Resource Development, chair of MetroWest Chamber of Commerce's Membership Recruitment Committee, and chair of MetroWest Chamber of Commerce's Executive Committee. In 2006 he was a featured presenter the Council for Resource Development's National Conference and co-chair of the Counsel for the Resource Development Region One's Conference. He has been guest speaker for the Northern New England Conference of Health Care Professionals and the New England Conference of Aging Professionals.

His memberships include the Northampton Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors Committee, Estate Planning Council of Hampden County and Pioneer Valley Estate, Association of Fundraising Professionals, and Framingham Rotary. He earned his B.A. in Economics in 1993 at the University of Florida.
